After an extensive nine-month refurbishment The George Hotel in Amesbury finally reopens, with the sun shining down on this historic location there were smiles all round!

The official reopening of The George Hotel took place on Friday 9th June, with temperatures high and morale even higher, The Mayor, Dr. Monica Devendran paid a visit to cut the ribbon and declare the hotel officially open! The team were delighted to see customers through the doors again, Dr. Monica Devendran even got stuck in and made a coffee!

The George is an historic 16th Century coaching inn built in 1560 and is complete with oak beams and inglenook fireplaces giving a cosy atmosphere. Situated in this historic town of Amesbury, it is but a stones throw (pun intended) away from the prehistoric Stonehenge, as well as a plethora of other historic monuments and sites to see.

The George Hotel has a total of 31 brand new bedrooms, with chic décor that accentuates the timeless charm of the building. Be warned – there are some strange twists and turns in the corridors of this location, however it only adds to the timeless feeling that is so very prominent of this 16th century building. When the old meets the new – our furnishings and bathrooms are modern and cosy.

With a shiny new restaurant, you can enjoy carefully crafted menus – perfect for those celebration days or even if you just fancy something special. If the sun is shining, there is also the option to venture outside and dine al fresco. Our cosy bar and lounges are perfect for those middy catch ups with food served their daily, as well as coffee and cakes.

A huge well done to the team at Amesbury and a huge welcome into The Coaching Inn Group family!
